Association Community Carbon Trees

In winter 2021, Aya went to Costa Rica for a tropical refresher. For two rain forest weeks, I joined the wonderful project called Association Carbon Trees, based in Platanillo, Pacific Central, above the town of Dominical.

When viewed in the movie One Precious Life, the canopy comes alive
and looks like a brain gently dancing in the breeze / frequencies of life.

Founded by visionary Jenny ("Jenny-of-the-trees"), this reforestation model actually pays the local people to care for the trees
planted on their property, thus ensuring that the new trees will not be neglected for about 20 years, until fully grown.
Anyone in the world can sponsor one or many trees to be planted by ACCT.

Jenny explains:
"Planting trees in the tropical belt multiplies
the power of carbon sequestration".

Here are quotes from the ACCT website:

"Association Community Carbon Trees are community-based nonprofit reforestation projects. We sprout over 100 diverse tropical rainforest trees in two rainforest nurseries. Saplings are carefully transported and planted on degraded farmland owned by local farmers. Each site is strategically designed as a natural forest matrix, replicating the flow of nature. ACCT work crews including local women maintain the young rainforest trees for four years. This includes at least three supervised visits per year for maintenance and cleaning. Trees become well established to ensure a long, fruitful life and maximum carbon sequestration. Costa Rican farmers and families then take care of the trees for the next 21 years to grow a mature and bountiful forest, receiving instruction from ACCT.
Association Community Carbon tree offers solutions to deforestation and climate change by connecting local farmers with people all over the world."

MAY TREES BE!
